The mass spectrometry-based proteomics lab has instrumentation and protocols for the development of research projects with established support from Instituto Butantan. The lab provides collaboration, consulting, and equipment to research investigators of Instituto Butantan and other public research institutions. In the last few years, lab investigators have been leading a strong training program for students and post docs aiming to progressively integrate projects using mass spectrometric-based proteomics towards a systemic view of biological phenomena. The amount and complexity of the data generated by the lab requires an active investigation and support staff to address the needs of the mass spectrometry-based research projects. The LETA-CeTICS bioinformatics group is actively engaged in both systems and software development to facilitate the analysis and correlation of mass spectral data and genomic/transcriptomic information, and also provides systems support and storage management to members of the laboratory. In this respect, a platform for interdisciplinary research that allows quantitative and qualitative-omics analyses and mathematical modeling of signaling networks (CeTICSdb) is currently under development at the CeTICS.
